Launching a business calls for margaritas

Have you ever woken up one day and decided that you’re going to open a business? Have you ever had an idea that was so interesting and unique that the only thing standing in your way of bringing it to market was you?

I have always had a creative side. When I was 7 years old my father owned a mobile home manufacturing company. During one of my many visits to the plant my father and his executives were struggling with new kitchen ideas. They were stuck on a simple concept; maximize the kitchen space. I took out my crayons and created what is now called “the round kitchen”. The idea was to build the kitchen space in a half-moon shape to allow more room for appliances. I will tell you that the round kitchen became their biggest seller!

The entrepreneur side of having your own business scares me. Not every idea can be like the round kitchen. My idea was simple; ready-made gallery walls shipped directly to the consumer in a box. I struggled putting my business model out into the world. Is this going to be like 6th grade kickball again and I get picked last? What if no likes this concept or worse what of no one buys what I am selling? I had a huge case of the what if’s.  I dug deep within and started with my business model; Do everything with so much love in your heart that you would never want to do it any other way.

I honestly recite this mantra over and over again when I have doubt. As long as I have love in my heart and I am passionate about what I am doing its a winner either way.

Lastly it was time to put my business idea to the test. I involved 65 of my closest maker friends, curated gallery walls with all their creations, that would be available for purchase in an auction setting. Why an auction you may ask? I need to honestly gauge what people are willing to spend.

Tomorrow, May 6th is our launch day. I am auctioning off 3 gallery walls for our first ever curated collection on our Instagram page . I feel like a child the night before a new school year. Butterflies in my stomach and ridden with anxiety. Tomorrow may be a roller coaster of emotions but I just have to remember that as long as I have love in my heart for my business it will be successful.
